Blanking Shift

Definition:

Blanking Shift is the intermittent horizontal and/or vertical shift of the active image. Blanking shift impacts the technical quality of an asset. If severe enough, the customer experience is impacted by the mid-scene shift of the image, and this is typically not creatively intended. The technical health of the asset is adversely impacted due to the frame not filling the intended image area.

Solution:

Review the key-frame for the particular shot and ensure there are no additional marks where the position shifts. Also, check the frame sequence, ensuring all frames were properly rendered and replaced correctly.
