Error Code:

Concealment Error

Definition:

Concealment Error is an obvious or improper attempt at covering up an underlying issue. Concealment Errors impact the content and technical quality of an asset. The customer experience is negatively impacted by the obvious cover up of on-screen content and poor quality concealment draws attention to the fix, instead of amending the original issue. This is likely an improperly executed fix or clean up, and is not creatively intended.

Severity Structure:

N/A

Needs Review

Noticeable concealment of underlying objects are obvious, but not distracting. There is some grain or video noise that appears on the screen that is locked in.

Needs Fix

There is a distracting concealment of errors that draws attention to the cover-up (e.g. there are large portions of locked in grain, poor matte tracking, color matching differences, and the concealed item is still visible).

Solution:

Review the implemented fix, ensuring the fix does not gain attention, and that the object is properly implemented and alive. If it's more severe, it could be due to VFX fixes that were improperly implemented and/or made of poor quality. Any concealment should not draw attention to the area that is being covered, and may require additional DI time, or use of alternative methods of concealment that can improve the on-screen appearance.
