Visible Production Equipment
Visible Production Equipment is extraneous equipment left on set during the recording of a take. It is not intended to be in the final program. The customer experience is negatively impacted by the distracting elements on the screen and removes the suspension of disbelief. It is typically not creative intent (except in rare contextual circumstances), and any derivatives of the asset will also include the visible production equipment.
|There appears to be possible production equipment showing in the background of the image or in a reflection, but it doesn’t draw attention from the main focus of the frame; the production equipment is near the frame edge; it is noticeable at a slower playback.|
|Production equipment is very noticeable in the foreground or in the middle of the shot and is near the main focus of the frame. There is no reasonable contextual evidence for the visible production equipment and it is clearly not creative intent.|
Review and confirm if it is creative intent; otherwise, use minor concealment or image repositioning to shift the production equipment out of the visible frame. If more severe, it may require major VFX editing. Cover Up/Issues in the middle of the frame may require substantial tracking.
