Uploading the AAC file to Authoring
You can upload your dubbed audio reference (dub mix or premix) directly into the Authoring tool to revise the script to match the recorded audio and produce the As Recorded Script that can be delivered ahead of the secondary audio.
Just follow these simple steps.
Creating the dubbed audio reference file
- Export a WAV stereo Dubbed Audio Reference from Protools (dub mix or premix)
- Convert the WAV audio file to AAC.

- Adobe Premiere, Adobe Media Encoder, Final Cut, Quicktime Pro, etc.

- The AAC Dubbed Audio Reference file MUST have the following specifications:
- Format: AAC (Codec: AAC + Version 1)
- Sample Rate: 48khz
- Bitrate: 96kbps
- Stereo
Uploading the AAC file to Authoring
Now it’s time to upload the AAC audio file to the Authoring Tool.
The dubbed audio reference file plays locally from the user's computer and should be uploaded by the person working on the As Recorded Dubbing Script.
- Open the request in Authoring and click Start if it’s not yet in progress.
- Click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner and select Open Audio.
- Choose the AAC file on your computer using the file picker and click Open.
- The AAC file will be available and selected in the Language Selector menu in the player. Look for the AAC file name in the audio options.
You can now play the dubbed audio reference to update the script.
Important notes
- Because the audio file is hosted locally in the user's machine, the audio can go out of sync during playback. If the audio goes out of sync, press stop and play the audio again. It will reset the audio and picture.
- This functionality should not be used to validate lip sync (see previous note). We don’t recommend performing a final QC using this reference audio file in Authoring.
- This functionality should be used only to update the As Recorded Script to match the audio.
